Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee Mentor 2.0 Program focuses on college readiness and success for students, particularly those who are slated to become first generation college students. Mentors and mentees communicate through writing activities, discussing important topics such as professionalism, perseverance, self advocacy, college financial aid, and career choices. In addition to e-mail discussions, mentors and mentees meet in person 8 times a year at Big Brothers Big Sisters sponsored events. In person meetings are held throughout the school year on weeknight events, and the writing assignments can be done anytime throughout the week and you will meet in person once a month.

This program is perfect for busy young professionals that want to mentor students but also have a busy schedule. “I would recommend Mentor 2.0 to anyone who wants to wants to make an impact on someone’s life but has a busy schedule,” says Mentor 2.0 mentor Kelly Carpenter. “The weekly wiring assignments as easy and quick enough to do in 10-15 minutes and the in person meetings are only once a month. Mentor 2.0 is a really easy way to make a huge impact on someone’s life.
